September 2026 - Reception Starters Information

As a school, it is of the utmost importance that we set secure foundations for children’s lifelong learning, starting with their transition to Reception. We understand the importance of seeing the learning environments first-hand and acquainting yourself with the class teachers prior to your child starting school.

For this reason, on confirmation of your child's place, Highfield operates an induction afternoon and 'Learning Together' sessions, all prior to the summer holidays. We will also be operating a staggered start at the beginning of September for all Reception children.

Registration Form

All new parents need to complete the registration form below by 2nd June 2026 at the very latest (which can be emailed back to school office info.highfield@sfet.org.uk or dropped off in person).

If you require a paper copy they will be available at the PEEP and induction sessions.

We also require a copy of your child's birth certificate (no originals please). These can be scanned into info.highfield@sfet.org.uk

PEEP sessions

We will be offering sessions where you and your child (younger siblings also welcome) can come and enjoy an hour of songs, rhymes, stories, Reception learning experiences and informal talks for parents and carers, led by our Early Years Lead who will be joined by the Reception team.

PEEP session dates will follow.

Induction session

Dates will follow.

Your child will spend time in their new class and during this time our Assistant Headteacher who oversees Early Years will talk to you about various aspects of school life so that you have all the information needed to help your child settle in.

Uniform

Uniform samples will be available during the PEEP and induction sessions so that you can check sizing before ordering online.

Please note we hold a large amount of stock on site so items can be changed if necessary.

Please see uniform guidance for more information.

Start dates

To assist the settling in process there will be three dates of entry as shown below. This means that the staff can give their full attention to each group of children and provide a gentle transition to their new environment.

Your child will start school according to their birth date.
