At Highfield South Farnham School, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive environment for all pupils, including those with allergies.

We recognise that allergies can range from mild to life-threatening and we take a whole-school approach to allergy awareness and management. Staff receive regular allergy and anaphylaxis training and individual Allergy Action Plans are in place for pupils with diagnosed allergies. Emergency adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs) are available in both the school and nursery buildings; staff are trained to recognise and respond promptly to allergic reactions.

We work closely with parents and carers to ensure that medical information is accurate and up to date. Parents of children with allergies are asked to provide the school with any prescribed medication, including in-date adrenaline auto-injectors where required, together with a completed in from their healthcare professional.

Whilst it is not possible to guarantee an allergen-free environment, we take reasonable steps to minimise risk. This includes promoting good hygiene practices, discouraging the sharing of food, considering allergens when planning activities and educational visits and working closely with our catering provider to support pupils with dietary requirements.
