Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

Here you can discover some of the exciting activities and rich areas of learning our 6- and 7-year-olds enjoy throughout the year.

In English, children dive into a wide range of engaging texts that develop their comprehension skills and inspire a variety of writing tasks. In Maths, they deepen their understanding of place value, the four operations, shape, measurement, and fractions through which children will apply their knowledge through problem-solving and reasoning challenges.

Science in Year 2 is full of exploration and discovery. Children investigate the properties of materials, explore different habitats, and learn what plants need to grow and thrive.

In History, they develop a sense of the past through topics such as Remembrance Day, The Great Fire of London, and significant historical figures like Florence Nightingale. Geography takes them on a journey around the world as they learn about continents, countries, and global features. In Art, they explore line, colour, and form through a variety of media, inspired by both classical and contemporary artists.

To enrich their learning, we offer a range of exciting workshops, including sessions on The Great Fire of London and Florence Nightingale, as well as drama, storytelling, music, and dance workshops that bring classroom learning vividly to life.

A real highlight of Year 2 is our fantastic selection of trips. Visits to places such as Farnborough Air Museum, Painshill Park, and Pizza Express provide hands-on experiences that extend learning in history, science, and healthy living.

Thank you for visiting our page, we hope you enjoy exploring all the wonderful things that make Year 2 such a memorable and inspiring time!
